How we check and prepare every lot
A lot isn't put together by throwing clothes in a box. It goes through seven steps at our Bétera warehouse. This is the process, exactly as it is.
Where the clothing comes from
Our vintage clothing comes from the United States and Europe, through clothing suppliers. We sort the items by size, condition and quality to prepare stock for resellers and shops.
Who checks it
The checking is done by our team, people who know the product. It isn't an automated check or a rough visual sample: these are people who have spent years handling these garments and can tell what's worth it from what isn't.
The 7 warehouse steps
- 1. Receiving: counting the items and recording where they come from.
- 2. Inspection: checking condition and setting aside items with stains, tears or defects.
- 3. Sorting: organising by garment type, size, season and quality.
- 4. Preparation: cleaning or steaming where needed, and labelling.
- 5. Storage: placing items in labelled zones and updating the inventory.
- 6. Orders: preparing lots to the needs of each shop or reseller.
- 7. Final check and dispatch: verifying quantities and quality, packing and logging the shipment.
During inspection we set aside items with stains, tears or other defects. Before dispatch we check the lot again. Our standard requires at least 90% of the items to be Grade A; the 10% is the maximum limit for any faults that may have slipped through our checks, not a quota we add to the order.
